Hubbard’s Marina Cruise News 4-24-26

Capt. Dylan Hubbard here with another great update from the waters of central west Florida. Conditions across Tampa Bay and the surrounding beaches of Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach, Shell Key, Fort De Soto, and Egmont Key continue to line up beautifully, making this an incredible time to get out on the water. From dolphin watching nature cruises and eco tours to shelling adventures, island ferry trips, sunset cruises, and family fun pirate ship experiences, the wildlife and scenery have been nothing short of spectacular.

One of the biggest highlights right now is the water clarity. It remains exceptionally clear across both the back bay waters and along the beaches, providing some of the best visibility we see all year. Guests joining us on shelling trips and island adventures are enjoying crystal clear conditions that make it easy to spot shells, sand dollars, and marine life below the surface. Even during our inshore dolphin tours, the clarity has enhanced the experience, allowing for better viewing of dolphins, fish, and other wildlife as they move through the water.

Dolphins have been very active as well, and their behavior has been especially interesting to watch. As younger dolphins continue to grow and learn, we are seeing more examples of them practicing hunting techniques. Guests have witnessed dolphins playing with their prey, using echolocation, and working together in small groups to feed. These moments provide a unique look into how dolphins develop their skills and interact within their pods.

Sunset cruises have delivered some incredible evenings this past week. With calm seas, vibrant skies, and dolphins actively playing along the beaches, guests have been treated to some truly picture perfect scenes. The combination of wildlife and colorful sunsets continues to make these trips a favorite for those looking to relax and take in the beauty of the Gulf Coast.

Cruise News: Island Ferries

Seabird activity is also thriving. Many of the juvenile birds that hatched earlier in the season are now leaving their nests and becoming more independent. This has led to increased movement and activity across the island rookeries, with pelicans, egrets, cormorants, and other species frequently seen feeding and exploring. At the same time, local osprey are reaching an exciting stage, with young birds beginning to learn how to hunt under the watchful eye of their parents.

Between the incredible water clarity, returning manatees, active dolphins, growing seabird populations, and stunning sunset conditions, this is one of the most rewarding times of year to experience the waters around Hubbard’s Marina. Whether you are joining us for a dolphin watching nature cruise, a Shell Key shelling trip, an Egmont Key ferry adventure, a sunset cruise with free beer and wine, or a pirate ship outing for the family, there is something special happening on every trip.

Manatee activity is increasing rapidly as water temperatures continue to rise. We are now spotting them regularly across a variety of trips, including dolphin tours, pirate ship cruises, island ferry runs, and shelling adventures. These gentle giants are returning in strong numbers to the back bay and coastal areas, and their slow, curious movements make for some truly memorable encounters for guests of all ages.
