DOLPHIN DIARIES | CRUISE NEWS | 6-27-25

Greetings from Hubbard’s Marina!
Capt. Dylan Hubbard here, excited to share the latest updates from our adventures on the water this week. Whether you’re joining us for a dolphin watching nature cruise, an eco tour, a sunset cruise with complimentary beer and wine, or a 3-hour shelling trip, there’s always something exciting happening at Hubbard’s Marina. From stunning wildlife sightings to relaxing beachcombing, let’s dive into the highlights of the past week.

We’ve been enjoying some amazing conditions lately, with water clarity at its best thanks to the influence of the new moon. The recent high tides have brought in crystal-clear Gulf waters, making it easier than ever to spot dolphins, manatees, and other wildlife on our dolphin watching cruises and eco tours. These ideal conditions have offered some of the best views of marine life we’ve seen in a while.

Whether we’re cruising through Boca Ciega Bay or along the shores of Madeira Beach and Treasure Island, visibility has been excellent—perfect for spotting playful dolphins and graceful manatees in their natural habitat.

The new moon has also led to some very low tides, which tend to concentrate dolphin activity in the deeper areas. This has made it easier to locate them for up-close encounters and has helped concentrate other wildlife as well, making it a great week for all our tours.

Cruise News: Island Ferries

Our shelling trips have been especially rewarding this week, with guests discovering a wide variety of beautiful seashells at Shell Key and Egmont Key. From sand dollars and whelks to conch shells, the finds have been plentiful and exciting.

Guests aboard our 3-hour Shell Key Shelling Trips, Shell Key Ferry, and Egmont Key Ferry have all had great success with their beachcombing adventures. Our crew is always happy to help identify shells and share tips on how to spot the best ones along the shore.

Our sunset cruises have been a favorite lately, offering breathtaking views of the Gulf as the sun dips below the horizon. The skies have been putting on a spectacular show, lighting up in brilliant shades of orange, pink, and purple—an unforgettable way to end the day.

One recent cruise featured an extra surprise: a group of dolphins putting on a lively show at sunset, jumping and playing in the golden light. These magical moments are exactly what make our sunset cruises so memorable.
