Hubbard’s Marina Fishing Report 7-2-21
We had another great week with mostly gorgeous waterways. This current red tide event is extremely spotty with most pockets along the south side of Tampa Bay and outside at least my local area of operations from Fort De Soto to Johns Pass.

We are seeing most of the action offshore and are more focused their due to the short red snapper season. We are fishing around 120-140ft at the shallowest end of things for these red snapper and the cut dead bait is working best like the bonita strips. However, we are having the most success and largest average size red snapper trips fishing closer to around 160-250ft of water. Look for those bigger shows coming up around the bait shows, ledges, rocks, peaks and offshore structure for the red snapper feeding active from the bottom as high up as nearly half way to the surface in some cases.

Red snapper season is upon us and that is our main target for the next 59 days while the season is only open for 62 days for the fed permitted for hire fleet.

Red snapper season is just a few days away. We are pumped to get out there and exact our revenge on these fish we have had to release for the past ten months.

The blackfin tuna bite has been great and the mahi mahi are showing up finally too. Great time of year to have the flat line out and a pitch rod ready.

Snook action has continued to heat up with the weather. These guys continue to push back into the passes and a few onto the beaches as they gear up for their summertime pattern of choking the passes and beaches to move near shore to spawn.

Further offshore, we are seeing some big mangrove snapper hanging around the potholes and ledges we are targeting for big red grouper, scamp grouper and others beyond 120-160ft of water.
