Let’s dive into the highlights and share what you can expect when you join us for your next adventure
Wildlife Rescues
At Hubbard’s Marina, we take our role in protecting wildlife seriously. This past week, we’ve had the opportunity to rescue and assist a variety of seabirds and marine life. On our Egmont Key Ferry, we successfully rescued a skimmer that had become entangled and needed help. We also helped a tern at Shell Key and a laughing gull at Hubbard’s Marina after a dolphin cruise and eco tour. Our crew worked with local rescuers to coordinate the rehabilitation of several pelicans we found in trouble during one of our 3-hour Shell Key Shelling Trips. It’s always heartwarming to see these creatures recover and return to the wild, and we’re grateful to be part of their journey.
These rescues are reminders of the importance of keeping our waters clean and safe for local wildlife. Whether you’re cruising with us or enjoying a day on the islands, be mindful of the environment to help protect the incredible creatures we encounter.
Sunset Cruises with Free Beer and Wine
Our sunset cruises continue to be a highlight of the week, offering guests stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico as the sun sets over the horizon. Whether you’re relaxing with a drink in hand, enjoying the peaceful surroundings, or spotting dolphins and seabirds, our sunset cruises with free beer and wine provide the perfect way to end the day. The Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, and St. Pete Beach views are particularly spectacular, especially as the sky is painted in beautiful colors as the sun dips below the water.

Cruise News: Island Ferries
Manatee sightings never get old
On our 3-hour Shell Key Shelling Trip, we had a special treat for our guests when a group of manatees cruised by. These gentle creatures are always a favorite sight, and it’s not every day that we get to see them up close while out on a shelling adventure. Manatees tend to move slowly through the waters, grazing on seagrass and generally avoiding human contact, but during this trip, our guests were able to witness these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.
Whether you’re enjoying a shelling trip or just cruising around Egmont Key or Shell Key, keep an eye out for these gentle giants. They’re often spotted in the shallow waters and along the island’s shorelines, making for a peaceful and memorable encounter.
Sea Turtle Nesting Season
As we move into the warmer months, we’re starting to see more sea turtle nests popping up along the shores of Shell Key and Egmont Key. This is an exciting time of year as sea turtles come ashore to nest, making the islands even more special. When visiting the islands, it’s important to be mindful of these nesting areas and give them plenty of space. If you see any turtles or their nests, be sure to observe from a distance and enjoy the incredible sight of these ancient creatures.
Our guests on Egmont Key and Shell Key trips have had great opportunities to learn about the turtle nesting process and what we can do to help protect these endangered species. Stay alert while cruising the coastline, and if you spot any turtle activity, make sure to report it so we can help keep these creatures safe.
