DO I NEED TO BRING ANY DEAD BAIT OF MY OWN?

NO. We will provide you with Spanish Sardines and Squid. You may bring other types of frozen bait if you choose, but you really don't have to. Spanish Sardines, Squid, and Live Bait work the best out there, where we fish.

DO I NEED A FISHING LICENSE TO FISH ON YOUR BOATS?

NO. You are covered under our boats recreational fishing license.

CAN I BRING A COOLER WITH FOOD AND DRINK?

Yes. You may bring up to 1 cooler per person up to 48-50 quarts in size. No larger. NO glass containers of any kind. ( Soft drinks, condiments, etc.) must be in plastic containers.

CAN I BRING MY OWN BEER OR ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES?

NO. There is NO CARRY ON alcoholic beverages permitted on board. The State of Florida has required us to carry a Beer & Wine license on board our vessels. We are able to sell beer under this license, however just like a bar, we can not allow you to bring your own in. We apologize for this as it is a State regulation, and certainly not a Hubbard's one.

To avoid an uncomfortable situation at the dock for both of us, please do not attempt to sneak any alcoholic beverages aboard. All coolers and gear are thoroughly searched prior to boarding. We've seen all the tricks, so again, please cooperate with this policy.

The same holds true for any type of narcotics, controlled substances, contraband, or illegal drugs. We are a "ZERO TOLERANCE" vessel in compliance with U.S.C.G. regulations. Again, please DO NOT attempt to board our vessels with any of these items. Thanks

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FISH I CATCH DURING THE TRIP?

When you catch your first fish, the mates will assign you a stringer number. Throughout the trip, your fish will go on that stringer number and held in our Iced Fish Boxes.

At the end of the trip, the mates will unload the fish boxes onto the deck. They will then call out stringer numbers at which time you will claim your fish when you hear your number called.

CAN I GET MY FISH FILLETED AT THE END OF THE TRIP?

YES. The mates will be available to clean fish after the boat returns to the dock. They generally charge per fish, based on the size of each fish. Fish cleaning is very reasonably priced. This is a side business for the mates, and is separate from any gratuity given on board.

You can have your filleted fish cooked in our Famous Friendly Fisherman Waterfront restaurant. They charge only $4.95 per person (parties of 4 or less) and include in a bunch of delicious side items. For parties of 5 or more, additional charge will apply.

FOR THE 34-hour OVERNIGHT TRIP WHAT TYPE OF GEAR/TACKLE/ LINE/ SHOULD I BRING?

Each person may bring up to 3 Rod/Reel outfits. Following are what have proven to work the best out in the areas of the Middle Grounds that we fish. While we know most of you are very experienced anglers and have all caught fish using your own techniques, and variations of tackle, you will do much better on this trip by following these guidelines.

For Mangrove Snapper: ROD-A 6 1/2 to 7 foot medium action rod. REEL: Daiwa Sealine 50H, Penn 320GT,Penn 555 HS, Penn 113h, or any brand in that size class.  Strung with 40-50 lb. Mono, either Grey, Pink, Blue, or green. WEIGHT- 5 or 6 ounce barrel slide weight. HOOKS-5/0 or 6/0 offset hooks. Bronze Mustads (model # 92671- 5/0) are the hook of choice. Owner, Gamagatsu, or other brands will work too.

For Grouper: ROD-> Medium to Heavy action. Flexible tip with plenty of backbone. REEL- Daiwa Sealine 300/350H, Penn 4/0 113-H, or any brand in that size class. Strung with 60 or 80lb. Mono either Grey, Pink, Blue, or green. SINKER- 6 ounce barrel slide sinker. HOOKS- 7/0 hooks. Bronze Mustads (model #92671- 7/0) are the hook of choice. Owner, Gamagatsu, or other brands will work too.

For AmberJack: ROD- Heavy Action, firm tip. REEL- Daiwa Sealine 400H,Penn 4/0 or 6/0, or any brand in that size class. Strung with 80-100lb. Mono. Line color does not matter (Mono). THINGS TO LEAVE BEHIND: Synthetic line! i.e.; Spiderwire, Power Pro, Dacron, etc.. Several Reasons...  1 - It has little give.  When you get hung on the bottom, you will lose your rigs 90% of the time, costing you valuable fishing time.  2 - A screaming Amberjack that runs you down the side of the boat, will cause you to cut a lot of fellow anglers lines with synthetic line.  3 - It is very difficult to untangle from Monofilament should you get tangled with another angler.

If you are out shopping for this trip, and are uncertain, please remember that we have a Full Service Bait & Tackle shop rite here at the dock. They carry all the tackle you could need for our trips.
